Photos of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis have recently come to light that are raising some eyebrows. A nude shot of the duo showering together sold on eBay for nearly $4,500 this past week, while a steam room photo sold for a modest $375.
While I originally thought the guy on the right was comedian Morey Amsterdam, a reader wrote:
The guy on the right in the sauna photo is Mack Gray, who was Dean’s assistant, and later in life arguably his closest friend. Dean and Jerry met him when they first came to Hollywood; they attended one of George Raft’s parties, and Jerry referred to Gray as Raft’s ‘Man Friday’. (It’s also worth noting, by the by, that Raft and Gray were in a relationship.)
Cropped versions of a couple of these photos can be found on Pinterest, although in poor quality jpegs, apparently scans of photos that ran in a magazine or newspaper at the time. I wouldn’t exactly call Pinterest a reliable source, but if the captioning is accurate these shots were taken in 1952 at the Palm Springs El Mirador Hotel.
I’m the first to call “fake” on photoshopped images found on the internet, but these new photos are very clear. The only pixel anomalies are the results of my attempt to remove the eBay seller’s name, which was strategically plastered across key nether regions, including Dean Martin’s uncut dong.

(It’s also worth noting, by the by, that Raft and Grey were in a relationship.)
Unfortunately, I’m not sure about the other guy in the sauna photo. At first I thought it could be Frank Branda himself, but after looking at a few photos, I’m not convinced. Whoever he is, he shows up in quite a few photos with Dean and Jerry, so he was probably employed in a similar capacity to Grey and Branda.

Well Brian.. there is another photo of the sauna that’s on eBay now.. starting at 199 it’s another Dino dong pic. Absolutely wild that those photos were ever taken. I’m sure this one will sell for big cash also.. wonder what you think!

Jerry is casually covering his schlong in a way making it appear as though it is longer than actually is. This explains his modesty on the sitting shot. I’m not saying he wasn’t hung, just that at that time he wasn’t up to par. He would have had to rub it against Dean to get it swollen.

Nice piece of history on these guys and good on them. They could and apparently did push some social limits for that time period. I’m sure there were many others aa well.
I was only around 7-8 at this time but I knew my preferences LoL 🤣

Wait a minute…this guy Mack Grey was in a “relationship” with George Raft?? As an old-timer & vintage Hollywood buff, count me VERY skeptical. Anything is possible, but that is extremely doubtful. Sounds like something from a Darwin Porter book. However, thanks for identifying Grey.

Isabelle, I’m curious how you know that Mack Gray was in a ‘relationship’ with George Raft? Georgie’s use of female prostitutes is legend and he is only mentioned in Scotty Bowers’ book in connection with Virginia Pine. George’s need for an assistant, due to his difficulty with reading, is understandable. As is his need to help old friends and keep them close as he never felt he quite fitted in LA. So I wonder if you could share more with us please?
